Course Description:

This interactive micro-course will introduce students to the fundamentals of principles and practices of sustainable education with a focus on active citizenship and democratic participation. Students will learn about main concepts within sustainable, democratic, and citizenship education. They will explore how to identify, analyse, and overcome barriers to sustainable education based on real-world case studies. Students will be sensitised to policies and practices within sustainable education and be encouraged to reflect critically on their own practices and values within educational contexts, either as participants in learning communities, or as educators working at different educational levels.

More information:

Pre-requisite is a sufficient level of English to participate in discussions and group work (at least B1, preferably B2 upwards). It is recommended that students know basic concepts in educational sciences, such as learning theories, basics in didactics, opportunities and challenges posed by classroom composition, and structures of education systems in their own and some other countries.
