Course Description:
The course provides basic knowledge on discrete-time signals, with the introduction of some theoretical analysis and the presentation of specific algorithms. In particular, Fourier transform of discrete-time signals, z-transform and its fundamental properties, DFT, linear convolution and cyclic convolution, FIR and IIR systems, Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and fast convolution techniques ("overlap and sum" and "overlap and save"). Finally, typical filter schemes, Butterworth and Chebyshev approximations, linear phase filters and the design of FIR filters using the window method will conclude the course.
