The course aims to guide the student to the knowledge of the basic methods of Statistical Linear models from an applied and a theoretical point of view. The topic will include basic on multivariate analysis, principal component analysis, linear models, multiple regression, selection of variables, diagnostic tools and residual analysis. The concepts will be introduced by examples on real data sets. The software R will be introduced and used. The very first part of the course will be the use of the RStudio software (an open source interactive environment for R), so that examples can be run directly by students during or after the lessons. A R open source package (MLANP) written by the teacher will be also used.
